SNAPDRAGON DEBUT CD RELEASED BY HUMBUG RECORDS

HumBug Records has released “Stealing a Moment,” the debut CD from the contemporary jazz band SnapDragon. Ranging in style from the smooth sound of the title song, to the saucy Latin “Pajima Baile,” to the introspective “Quietude,” the record reflects the diverse jazz styles of the seasoned band members. Two tracks feature the guitar wizardry of guest artist Richard Smith, whose solo albums have garnered such awards as “Best Jazz Record of the Year” (TuneUp Magazine).

“Stealing A Moment” is a ten-song collection of original tunes written and produced by keyboardist Sam Mims, who toured and recorded for years with Richard Elliot before forming SnapDragon. Danny Fisk plays saxes, and his decades of experience lead to some mesmerizing performances. Carl Stutevoss adds the bass to the mix, and the drumming is by Steve Glaeser, who formerly toured with Clark Terry, Monte Alexander, and others.

The new CD is available for $12.99 at www.snapdragonjazz.com; one of the tracks, “Black Onyx,” is available for free download at the site.

HUMBUG RECORDS SIGNS MICHAEL CLANCEY

HumBug Records, a new label focused on music “Made in Texas”, has announced the signing of Michael Clancey to a recording contract. Clancey’s smooth voice and engaging stage presence have made him a long-time favorite in the San Antonio area, and earned him a spot on Shiner Bock's Texas Music Top 10 List. He Has also been named the Best Local Entertainer by the San Antonio Current.

"We were producing a country song to present to another artist, and hired Michael to do the vocal on the demo,” said Sam Mims, president of HumBug. “He sounded so good on it that we asked Michael to do a whole country album, and kept that song as the first single.”

That song, A Hundred Second Chances, has been released as a CD Single. Produced by Mims, and featuring the guitar work of Rick McRae (of George Strait’s band), the song was mixed by Gary Hickinbotham, who engineered the Grammy-nominated debut record for the Texas Tornados. A Hundred Second Chances is currently getting airplay in the San Antonio market, and is available for purchase or preview at www.humbugrecords.com.
