HumBug Recording Studio is the in-house studio for Syntaur Productions and HumBug Records, and is located in the resort city of New Braunfels, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Studio

Rick McRae

(L to R) Engineer Danny Reisch, Rick McRae (guitarist for George Strait), and producer Sam Mims recording guitar tracks for a recent project.

Studio A consists of an acoustically-designed 12x15 foot control room with adjoining isolation booth, professionally set up and wired (Mogami cable throughout). It is a great room for doing mixing, overdubbing, or small tracking projects, with 24 tracks of digital hard-disk recording (Mackie HDR 24/96) and a fully-automated 56-input digital console (Sony DMX-R100) set up for surround-sound. With mixdown to our Alesis MasterLink, a project can be recorded from start to finish in high-resolution (24-bit, 96kHz sample rate) digital audio. Eight tracks of analog recording (Otari MX5050) are also available for multitracking, or for surround mixing, with a 16-track 2-inch analog machine (3M M79 recorder) presently being refurbished.

A collection of vintage and rare keyboards is one of the highlights of Syntaur's studio. Vintage synthesizers such as the Minimoog, rare ones such as the Russian Ritm-2, and classic instruments like the Hammond organ can give your tracks an extra authenticity. A multitude of additional synthesizers and samplers is also available, with huge sound libraries for each. Syntaur also has a diverse collection of ethnic instruments from around the world.

Studio B is a smaller room used for in-house sound design, and can be called into service when needed for outside projects.
