Batteries
Some people sell battery holders that allow you to simply slide in a replaceable battery. That's a fine idea for a
calculator, but not for a keyboard that is storing the data that you worked long and hard to create. One good bump on
the way to a gig, and you may find that your keyboard has reinitialized - and all your sounds and sequences have
evaporated. The manufacturer soldered the batteries in for a good reason! You may not need to replace the battery for a decade,
so there is not much convenience to a battery holder, and it's not worth the risk.
The batteries listed here must be soldered to the main circuit board, and unless you are experienced with a soldering iron,
you may not want to tackle this job. If you do, beware that overheating the battery can cause it to explode; make quick solder
joints and use a heatsink. Battery replacement is a fairly simple task for a qualified technician; any service center should be able
to do the job fairly quickly. Just be sure you save all your programs and sequences first, as the keyboard
will lose this data when the battery is removed.
