While most Ensoniq repair parts are no longer available, we do
stock what we can. (Note that we do carry most Service
Manuals.) If neither we nor E-mu/Ensoniq have the part you need, you are probably out of
luck; we are not aware of any other company that stocks these parts. In some cases, you may
be able to get a part repaired; for instance, if you need a new main board, you may
be able to find a service center that can do component-level repair to fix your existing board.

recommend Audio Electronics in Dallas
(214-349-5000), and EPR Electronics in Tampa,
Florida (813-234-0674); you can ship your keyboard to them for service.
Batteries
(Syntaur does not sell any batteries.)
Many Ensoniq keyboards use batteries to back up the internal sounds and
sequencer memory. These batteries are not user-replaceable, as they are a
component which is soldered to the main circuit board. This is, however, a
fairly simple task for a qualified technician, and should only take about 30
minutes of bench time; any service center (even non-Ensoniq service centers)
should be able to do the job. Just be sure you save all your programs and
sequences first, as the keyboard will default to its factory settings.
Disk Drives
The Ensoniq keyboards use very specific drives configured in a very specific way.
You cannot simply replace the drive with one from a computer. Unfortunately, we currently
have no drives in stock. But here's a hint: Drive problems often arise from dust collecting
inside the drive itself. Try opening the flap (where you would insert a disk) and
blow compressed air into the drive to dislodge the dust. You can blow with your mouth even -
just make sure you don't spit into there!
Replacement Keys & Springs
These plastic keys will replace broken ones on your keyboard. Most of these
replacement keys are used, but in fine condition; some are new. There are several different
types of keys used on the Ensoniq keyboards, so you will need to make sure
you order the correct style (click on the link for your keyboard below). With the exception of the Top C note
on the 61-note keyboards, all keys from octave to octave are identical, and all black keys within a given
style are identical. In other words, a B note in the lowest octave uses the same key as a B note in any
other octave. But the highest C note is different from the other C notes (see illustration below).
If you do not know the note names, on a 61-note keyboard (ASR-10, ESQ-1, VFX, TS-10, etc.), the white keys from the
bottom (left side) up are: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, and then the sequence repeats.
